Therapeutic Services

My People Clinical Services offers a wide range of therapeutic services for individuals and families in need of support, treatment, or assessment by therapeutically trained individuals.  The following descriptions provide an overview of our services:
Individual Therapy:

Individual psychotherapy focuses on men and boys from the community in need of support. Additional therapy can be provided to children, adolescents, and adults in an office setting to address emotional and/or behavioral problems.

My People Check-Ins:

The check-in is an opportunity to touch base with individuals without having them have to attend a formal therapy session. Every day, multiple times a day, individuals are impacted by different situations, pressures, interactions, and people that can change their moods in an instant. The check-ins are an easy way to see how someone is doing in real-time and provide a safe space or listening ear, as needed.

Family Therapy:

Family psychotherapy can be offered to parents/couples and their family members to nurture change and development of the whole family. Sessions are offered either at their residence or in an office setting. Family therapy is often offered in conjunction with other services provided by My People Clinical Services, including individual therapy, parent mentoring, therapeutic mentoring, etc., to target the resolution of crisis situations, support family well-being, and stabilize relationships to preserve the family unit.

"Sessions can be offered once or multiple times per week based on the level of intensive intervention required"

School Based Services

My People Clinical Services provides schools with a support team that includes a therapist, case managers, and an intervention specialist. These individuals work with the school administration to stabilize the school and improve overall day to day functioning.

Fatherhood Engagement Training and Consultation

My People has had a long history in the Fatherhood movement in Connecticut. In addition to developing and managing a Fatherhood Engagement Service for many years, My People is an excellent resource for consultation on difficult cases involving fathers.  We also offer a wide range of trainings for staff to ensure fathers are engaged and involved.  Below is a brief overview of the trainings we offer:

  • Fatherhood SWOT Analysis
The Fatherhood SWOT Analysis assesses paternal family members' strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Through this analysis, a decision can be made on how to move forward with training and strategy implementation.

  • Going from Fatherhood Engagement to Father Inclusion & Equity
Father Engagement has become standard as organizations increasingly seek involvement with fathers and paternal relatives. Engagement of fathers can mean a variety of things based on each social worker’s experience and desire to develop deep, impactful relationships with the fathers they serve.  Social workers must move beyond fatherhood engagement to father inclusion and equity for all fathers to truly include them in the process.

This training underscores father engagement while challenging participants to involve fathers at every stage, equal to mothers. It also reimagines equity through a fatherhood lens and explores the necessary steps toward achieving it.

  • Turning 50 Barriers to Fatherhood Engagement into 50 Opportunities for Fatherhood Engagement (90 minutes)
Barriers, controllable and uncontrollable, get in the way of engaging fathers. However, what if we looked at each barrier as an opportunity to engage a father and thought of ways to turn what is perceived as a barrier into an opportunity to better engage and work with fathers? This interactive training provides a list of common obstacles and encourages participants to discuss how to turn each barrier into an opportunity for Fatherhood Engagement.

  • 21 Levels of Fatherhood Engagement (90 minutes)
The deeper the engagement, the greater the outcomes are.  Ask yourself, “How many levels will I go to engage and support fathers?”  This training goes through the 21 levels of fatherhood engagement and uses role play to help participants experience the impact of engaging fathers.

  • 10 Steps to Working with Fathers Beyond Engagement (90 minutes)
In this 10-step training, participants explore steps for working with fathers once engagement is established, aiming for positive outcomes for both fathers and their children.

Working with fathers, especially non custodial fathers, opens up a vast amount of opportunities for children.  Fathers have many supports that are willing to help.
